Franco Mondo Barbera d'Asti 2018
Barbera is the 'other' red grape of Piedmont in Italy's northwest, forever overshadowed by its big brother Nebbiolo - the grape used to make Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Personally, I love Barbera. I associate it with wines that have a jolly, bright, unpretentious juiciness - just like this baby. You can never go far wrong with Barbera at the table - the lively acidity in the wine makes it a perfect foil for grub.
